The actual length of an astronomic year is 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds. If it were exactly 365 days, 6 hours(365 1/4 days), leap year would occur every 4 years without exception. Instead, leap years are ommitted on years ending with '00', unless it's a year divisible by 400 (e.g. 1600, 2000, 2400). The year 2000 will therefore be a leap year. If astronomers's calculations are correct, this method will be good for another 3200 years, until another adjustment will be necessary.
